NaNo = Done
Nov. 19th, 2013 11:21 pmOmg. I have... for the first time in years... completed the first draft of a novel. This also marks my second year as a NaNoWriMo winner. I'm guessing this means I should keep doing NaNo since that gets my lazy, distracted ass in gear and forces me to focus on one story. And it's amazing how much I can get done. I first started writing the original version of "The Art of Denial" in June. By mid-October, I'd finished five chapters and a prologue plus a scattering of other scenes from later in the novel.
During this month I was able to write 11 chapters. I pulled some scenes from stuff I'd already written but a good 85-90% was brand new content.
It's such a wonderful feeling to be able to finish a novel. I've got a long way to go in terms of making it readable for an audience but... I did it. There were times I wondered if my my plot was good enough and even considered not writing it at all. But I told my insecurities to fuck off and was able to write this story.
I'm proud of myself. So now, the next question is: what's next? I probably won't start anything major until after this semester is over. I have a Japanese test on Thursday, an essay due on Monday, an oral exam on Tuesday (shoot me), then it's Thanksgiving break. But I also have a lot of essays to write or edit that are due by December 10th. Thus far I have 4 that I need to revise. 2 are going to have to be scrapped and rewritten. So there's a lot to do and I'm honestly not feeling any of my muses right now. I wanted to get working on "Life or Death" right after I finished NaNo, but I'm not sure... I'll probably open it up over the weekend and see if I feel inspired.
Probably on Thursday I'll make a post of my possible stuff to write
